monday is the new saturday

When you are in ministry, especially local church ministry, Saturday isn’t Saturday as you once knew it. No more lounging in pajamas all day and eating sugary cereal while watching cartoons. Well, at least you can’t do those things on Saturday. There are bulletins to prepare, sermons to practice {for Jason, not me, thankfully!} , shirts to iron, checks to write, and the like. Needless to say, it is does not go into the “restful” category. While we lose out on the typical Saturday, we have gained Monday as a day for rest and family time. It has been a strange transition, but we are getting used to it.

We have been longing for springtime, and it looks like it is finally here. On Sunday afternoon {the new Friday night}, we visited Cool Creek and welcomed the warm weather park-style! We even traversed some seriously muddy terrain, but the BOB passed the test with flying colors.

Monday night was Spaghetti night. If messy = fun, we had a lot of fun…

Still pretty clean, right?

One big mess!

birthday boy

We all know that “time flies.” “You blink and then they’re all grown up,” I hear at least once a week. I can’t say that I didn’t expect it to go quickly, but I’m still surprised at how fast it really went. Our little baby is now a big one-year-old boy. Wow!

On his birthday, we celebrated with a trip to the pool. It was a blast… after the first ten minutes of hysterical crying. On Saturday, we had a family birthday party. It was wonderful to celebrate his first year of his life and to look forward to the coming year! Mr. E even learned a new word – balloon (which really comes out more like “boooon.”) I think he is also working on cow – with good reason, too. Look for the hilarious cow balloon that “walks.” It was entertainment for all ages!
