vitamin d

This little family has been taking advantage of the warm temps (well, it has been warm most days…) to get some free vitamin D! Here are some of our activities of late:

Zoo x 2

We visited the zoo twice in March… within one week! First, we kicked-off my Dad’s 60th birthday celebration with a trip to the zoo. How great is it that you can have a zoo party when you are 60?! Then, we had the opportunity to visit a second time with Jason’s family, some in- and some out-of-town. We are putting that zoo pass to good use already.

Gardening Extravaganza

It took a lot of work, but the church and house are now weeded and mulched! If you have been here recently, you probably understand the weight of that statement. Thankfully, we had lots of help with the church yard last Saturday. We have been working throughout the week on the parsonage… all three of us! Elliot has eaten a few globs of dirt, played with a worm (ripped it in half, unfortunately for the worm), and enjoyed many sticks and rocks. Despite the ridiculous quantity and size of the weeds, I waged a great battle and came out on top except for what seems to be a minor case of poison ivy.

Hangin’ around

Jason received a hammock for his birthday and has had fun trying it out already. Grandpa and Elliot spent some time ‘hangin out’ together. We are excited to get it up again on the next warm afternoon.

article round-up

Here are some articles I have found particularly interesting and/or challenging. They are mostly about mothering, but I’m sure there can be broad application…

new neice nadia

There are few things in life as beautiful and wonderful as welcoming a new baby into the world. It was such a joy to visit our new neice, Nadia, on Monday and to say “welcome to our family!” (figuratively… we didn’t actually say that, but that is what we meant). Nadia means “Hope” which is a great reminder of the hope we find in Christ alone. Elliot could not visit the hospital room, but we look forward to introducing him to Nadia soon.

Here are some pictures from our lovely visit including a few little family shots in the garden area in front of the hospital.

welcome

So, it is mid-April and until yesterday, I still had a Christmas/winter wreath on the door. Yikes! In December, I had the idea to decorate a grapevine wreath with removable felt flowers, so that it can be easily updated each season without having to buy and store a bunch of different wreaths. It was a great idea, and I loved my Christmas version, I just hadn’t made anything new for the new season which is definitely upon us. I couldn’t take it anymore, so I finally got to work.

The new spring wreath:

I have a project underway for the front door (the wreath is on our porch door, which we predominately use). I’ll let you know if it works out!
